I lived in Las Vegas for a year a while back and worked in the casino industry. It has always fascinated me, and I knew about counting cards. I found the whole thing very entertaining, and the cast very good. Jim Sturgess is a standout as an MIT student who desperately needs $300,000.00 for Harvard Medical School, and gets sucked into this world by a college professor who has formed a club of smart students. Kevin Spacey, is very good as always as the professor. Kate Bosworth is also attractive as the love interest. Based on a true story, there have been liberties taken, especially the beating of the student by casino officials. Card counting is not against the law--it is just very frowned upon by casino owners. A very entertaining way to spend 2 hours. It is fast moving, and fun. I recommend it. |
