Fans of King will love this flick, but, even King fans will shudder at the ending. You should know that it deviates from the original story (but then King fans already knew that would be the case). The adaptation was wonderfully done. The story line, the tensions, the terror--it was all top notch. The only, and I do mean, ONLY, disappointment was the ending. Of all the ways to end the movie--the director chose this one? It was sooooo bizarrrely out of character with the individuals involved that it just fell flat and empty. It filled the theater with a giant sigh of "What?". I can only hope that the DVD will have alternate endings. I am CONVINCED that they did not test this ending with any audiences. The movie is AWESOME, it really is that good. The ending, however, is so terrible and ridiculous that it will be the thing in your mind when you think back to the movie. Really really stupid of the director. |
