Being a big fan of post apocalyptic 80s flicks I was really looking forward to "Doomsday". I must say I wasn't prepared, from naked boobie chick firing a shotgun from a bathtub, to infected viral dude chopping off some guys head to pass a retinal scan, this movie had everything that makes Rated R "rad". "Doomsday" seemed to pull scenes from so many other action/horror films and then spliced them together into a not so seemless ball of blood and guts. Movies like "Aliens", "The Road Warrior", "Resident Evil" and "Escape From New York" (atleast those are the ones I was reminded of) hell there's even a sorta of sprinkling of "Excalibur" tossed in there. Most of the audience laughed at the use of over the top uneccessary violence, like the poor bunny rabbit blown to pieces by a high caliber military machine gun. My guess is if you like violence, blood, swearing, swords, guns and of course, nades, then you have to love "Doomsday". |
