A terrible adaptation of Susan Coopers book The Dark is Rising. So much has been changed, I don't know if the commercials and posters should be claiming this is based on the book at all. Of course, there are always changes that have to be made when a book is turned into a movie, but the ones here are unnecessary and destroy the basic elements of the book. Gone is the subtle magic and atmosphere of these books, Will's loving family, and the magic and wonder of England's Arthurian legends; they have been replaced by snakes, kung-fu fight scenes, and cheesy dialogue. Save your money and invest in a set of the books instead. |
