I just saw "The Orphanage" here in Los Angeles...WOW! It is excellent!
This thriller is in Spanish with English subtitles, but don't let that deter you.
Turns out that things that make a Spanish audience jump out of their seats, make an American audience scream too.
Any American director who is thinking about making a scary movie should watch this film. Forget those dumb movies like "Saw" or "I Know What You Did Last Summer"! This movie is more like "The Sixth Sense" and "The Others" which use more imaginitive techniques to jolt an audience.
And the ending is so heartbreaking and sad.
Go ahead and give the Best Foreign Film Oscar to "The Orphanage"! This hauntingly beautiful movie deserves it. |
