Lulu on the Bridge (1998)
The Sixth Sense.
Except the clues were false.
Why in the world would the main antagonist be so hostile to the protagonist?
Watch the whole movie to find out that it's because he feels bad.
It's a very *slow* movie and does not explore the depth of the idea, unlike the Sixth Sense which *did* pay attention to the details such that on a second viewing, everything was a very subtle and 'honest' clue to what was happening.
Dishonest: Making the lead the therapist for the other passengers. Later in the movie, we find that others who have not moved on, volunteer(?) to help those who have just died. So who planned it out so that this person should be the therapist for the others, without her even knowing what she was doing? What kind of planning is that?? Put in a therapist who has no clue how to guide them correctly? Why not tell someone who lost their leg that it's all just in their head?
If the other movies like this hadn't already been done, then I'd give it a C+ because the plot was so slow.
IFF you just lost someone, then this movie moves up to a B+ for you, as it could help in that limited way, but not a whole lot.
If this movie would have been better at leaving honest clues, not just a cloud of mystery, then it could have gotten a B+, but I left the movie feeling like they didn't have the time or money to think through the plot beyond the StarBucks meeting they had just before shooting. |
