The acting is good: believable, compelling, and interesting; however, the direction, sets, style, and score is trite, overdone... in a word... kitschy. The overhead shot from the opening scene was interesting, but held way so long that I felt vertigo. The off-center blocking at first created tension, but lingered too long, and quickly gave way to frustration. I felt the director was trying so hard to be avant-garde, that he came full circle to kitschy. |
