I was very excited when I first came upon a movie poster for The Darjeeling Limited. I love Wes Anderson, Jason Schwartzman and the whole crew. However, when I read the reviews, I got worried. Would this not live up to previous works like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums?
After seeing the film, I can safely say this movie is fantastic. Full of the usual quirky characters and random situations Anderson is known for, this film is also well crafted and hilarious. While some reviews have implied that the film doesn't go anywhere and that the character's emotional journeys fall flat, I disagree. I think the film achieved everything it intended. And I must not be alone- no one in the movie theater left the auditorium until the very end of the credits. |
