Really a made-for-TV movie

I enjoyed this movie. Amy Adams and Emily Blunt were both very good and the poignant moment when the sisters really connect is very moving.
But really, when the dust has settled and the blood and vomit have dried, this is really a made-for-TV story that somehow stumbled onto the big screen. And it's too slight a thing for so big a canvas.
Alan Arkin's curmudgeonly grandpa schtick is wearing pretty thin and the kid's performance is just about adequate to advance the plot and to provide Amy Adams the motivation for her character. |
