My husband and I took our 14 year old grandaughter to see this movie. Although the plot was very predictable, we enjoyed the movie very much. Amanda Bynes is adorable, as is the male lead.
The movie taps into the universal feelings of not fitting in we all have experienced (even those of us who were sorority girls) and shows that the underdog can indeed be a winner. The movie is an exaggeration, but even though you know what is going to happen it is fun to watch the situations play out. I would certainly rather see young people watching this type movie than one with a violent slasher or drug theme.
I think the critics were not only too hard on it, they have lost the ability to enjoy something that is simple and light hearted. |
