In terms of the standard underdog movie, this is the same formula played over again. But in terms of a Will Ferrell movie this is practically the top of his game. After watching this movie I found that the R rating actually took away some limitations that his other recent movies have had. Granted he usually plays the same character in all of his movies. This movie does not give a lot of background to the characters we are dealt with, just the barebones stuff that was neccessary to keep the movie going. I couldn't think of a joke that fell flat. There are a lot of quotes in this one that I could imagine hearing people use at some point later on this year. I think that this movie is funny and gave me what I was looking for in a comedy right now. Just comedy. |
