the subject of the movie - the multiple missteps and mismanagement of the planning and execution of the war/occupation have been covered extensively in print but this is the first time it's come to the screen. I'm hoping that perhaps this will bring the startling facts to the general public. When it hits wider release or DVD - since it's only at 2 theatres nationwide. Overall, an excellent narrative of how profoundly arrogant and haphazardly the cheney, rumsfeld, wolfowitz, bremer, feith crew went to war. It brushes by Bush by painting him as a spectator to all this (big surprise, I know). The former diplomats, military brass and civilians who are speaking out in this movie are to be applauded. Every major neo-con player declined to be interviewed for the film. (one note on the players, the only missing piece was Colin Powell. Armitage is on screen at length, but I don't remember seeing "colin powell declined to be interviewed for this film" on the screen.)
This film really drives home the point that had we actually done some planning (or if the DOD and/or Bremer had consulted the military commanders on the ground in Iraq in the spring of 2003) this atrocity that we've brought on the world could have turned out much differently. Instead, this corrupt admin that we the American public have elected TWICE has altered human history for the worse. |
