One I Have to Buy
by Jared Parmenter (movies profile)
Oct 14, 2008
I have to start off by saying that this movie is not for everyone and a lot of people will really hate it. It is not conventional at all and is very low key. This is not a big screaming thriller or blow-em-up action flick. It is a calm but intriguing mind-bender.
I am not real familiar with John August's work but this film has convinced me to look more at what he has done.
The story is one of an actor who's life has gone awry and in the process starts to bleed over into paralell yet related lives. You learn to love and hate all of the characters at different times.
In the end it, again, is unconventional and is not the quintessential hollywood ending but, in my opinion, was the only right way for the film to end.
I commend John August, Ryan Reynolds and all of the other cast and crew of this movie for creating one of my all time favorite films.
I am braiding my own green wristband tonight. |
