This is the BEST documentary this year, and one of the BEST I have ever seen. I am amazed by the fact that some of the people who reviewed this film (on yahoo here) have not even seen the film. It's ironic that Carter's book tour (Palestine, Peace not Apartheid) was not read by most of his critics in the film. This VERY gentle and peaceful man is the 39th PRESIDENT of the United States, a Nobel PEACE prize winner and the kindest gentleman, also the ONLY U.S. president who SUCCESSFULLY made brought Israel and Egypt to sign a peace treaty, and YET, he is the subject of character assassination by pro-Israel groups who hold just this one book against him, WITHOUT having read it!!! The notorious Alan Dershowitz calls Palestinians in this film "cockroaches." Carter is repeatedly assaulted by media pundits and Jewish/pro-Israel groups. Yet, he maintains his calm and responds to them in a very civilized and logical manner. This is one of the MOSZT important documentaries ever made about the Mideast issue. I am sure it won't get an Oscar nomination because the Academy of Motion Pictures is 80% Jewish, most of them supporters of Israel. This film won BEST FEATURE prize at the Venice International Film Festival, won several other awards in the same festival, was an official selection at the Toronto Film Festival but was NOT picked up by a single U.S. film festival yet. I wonder why! Before you criticize this film, you MUST see it first. I did and I was blown away!!! |
