Delpy has seen too many Woody Allen movies...

Writer/Director/Actress Julie Delpy has obviously seen alot of Woody Allen movies to make this film. She's even wearing those oversized black glasses for the first half of the film! Even so, the Allen-esque dialog is surprisingly entertaining in French, and Adam Goldberg is great as the whining hypochondriac American. Nevertheless, the story is pretty forgettable and the film kinda loses traction after a while.
While this film isn't perfect, it is a good start for Delpy as a writer and director, and I look forward to her future films once she has developed her style a bit more. |
