I love the show. I watch it over and over again. I buy DVDs. But I hated this film.
It doesn't translate well to the longer format. There is a reason ATHF is 8-10 minutes. But it wasn't just that. The material this time was pathetic. It lacked any wit and instead just recycled as many old character references and relatively crude bodily humor-type jokes as it could.
I like ATHF because of the bizarre characters and witty concepts. It usually rides the line between appealing to stoners with an IQ of 60 and the disaffected 20/30-something intellectual crowd. I don't know what happened. They only introduced two new characters (with very minimal screen time) and they were not funny. Carl had minimal dialog and a very passive central role. Meatwad was not particularly central either. They pulled in so many characters that it just seemed like none of them could do anything more than spout out recycled one-liners from the show. |
