Never read "The Critic" reviews or ratings. User reviews are always more insightful, and less of an attempt to try and impress you with wordiness and storyline structures.
My personal opinion regarding reviews starts with t
he reviewer, and their interests regarding movies. My likes regarding the zombie horror movies include most of George Romero's films and in a weird, quirky way Shawn of the Dead.
With my interests in this genre being stated, this movie reminded me of a homemade movie with the special effects geeks adding their boring blend of normal zombie FX without adding that horror/disgust that you expect from a good zombie movie.
The story idea sounded interesting and intelligent, but the opening ruined what could have been much more interesting.
The direction and acting was more comic book like, and not in a good way like the marvel or Stan Lee movies, but more like the ones you want to forget.
I have to admit, though the acting of the main female character was pretty decent, and if there was better acting support, AND if the story was made more believable, it could have been much better.
If you have the time to grab a few camcorders, some friends, a good computer to edit your video, and your own FX geek who knows the basics of latex and fake blood, and can provide your local neighborhood with scenes from the inside of your apt./house as scenery for the film (with a shot from your local bus/train terminal), you've got the makings of a movie that would tie or outdo this movie, and to boot you would have critics trying to impress upon others to watch this sub par movie. |
