Paul Haggis has done a masterful job at engaging his audience with this mystery-type approach to a very important issue going on with many of our men and women that are coming home from the war. Tommy Lee Jones performance is most definitely something that could cause a buzz come Oscar time. I think the filmmakers' goal was to give the audience a stirring story to follow in 2 hours, but wanting to leave everyone with a haunting emotional experience to be discussed long after the film is over. The lasting image of the tattered flag hanging form the flagpole is definitely a call to help for our men and women of the armed forces. On a personally level, I know many of these stories to be true, as I've been helping several vets trying to cope with PTSD. This film does not disgrace our military men and women, but it brings to light a very important issue of who is taking care of the mental health of our troops?
