I actually watched this movie unlike a lot of the people who write a bunch of bs here that's made up. This was a "C" movie. Take it from someone who actually enjoys the genre; loved Iron Man am a big fan of X-men, Spiderman, Superman, etc. This movie had the POTENTIAL to be great I believe. It put a unique spin on the un-superhero hero but it failed to connect all the dots. Was this movie suppose to be funny, touching, vulgar, what? It changed directions too many times and awkwardy for you to get a good feel of what they were aiming for.
Will Smith, a great actor, did the best anyone could have with the sub-par plot he was given to work with. Theron, an amazing actress, was seriously miscast in her role. I also think Bateman did a very nice job in his role as the superhero PR guy. The pieces were all there but when they put it together then end up with no better than so-so.
For a movie that is suppose to appeal to adults AND kids I thought there was far to much unnecessary swearing. Hey, a good f-bomb or ***** can be hilarious when used in the right context. It just felt like they were forcing the issue to see how many times they could squeeze in the cursing and still barely squeak under the R-rating bar.
I'm not saying this was a truly bad movie. I got a few laughs and enjoyed a few stunts but if you haven't seen Iron Man, The Hulk or even the new Narnia movie do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned cash there instead. |
