When Viggo Mortensen, as Nikolai Luzhin the "driver" for the family of criminals depicted in this film, makes the above statement he, the rest of the marvelous cast and David Cronenberg take the audience on an uncomfortable and chilling journey though the fascinating world that lies beneath the normalcy that the majority of London will never see. It isn't an experience that you will soon forget. If Mortensen doesn't get an Oscar nomination for his multi-faceted portrayal, I would be shocked. No punches are pulled and the pacing is excellent. More than one viewing may be required to register the subtle nuances that Mr. Mortensen brings to the screen. |
