Successfully evades the prequel curse...

The over-stylized action-thriller SPL: Kill Zone continues with a prequel: Flash Point and thankfully it manages to do almost everything SPL should've done. Flash Point focuses on the supporting character in SPL: Sgt. Ma whom is attempting to bring down three brothers that are crime lords of a notorious gang. Much like the original, it doesn't have much of a story and takes awhile to get to the action but unlike the original compensates beautifully. The characters are much more likable (without ridiculous action cliches and bad editing tricks), the acting is passable for an action flick and come the end one can't help but get excited for the nonstop action that is soon to take place. For fans of Donnie Yen, Flash Point is a treat. |
