MySpace generation deserves to be eaten

George Romero may not be a filmic genius, but he has life experience and comes from an era when real liberalism - not the fake, naive "progressivism" of today - held sway. That being said, I hope he continues to make movies with bite (pun intended). The adolescent fanboys who tape their friends in Star Trek costumes and call it a movie are not filmmakers, they are poseurs of the worst sort. Talent is unimportant on YouTube. All that matters is your parents broke down and bought a $5000 digital camera package for you after years of begging. Yeah, you'll be the next Spielberg, the Spielberg of 1941 and ALWAYS!
Romero's zombie fright feasts are allegorical, of course, but also political statements. Modern America is a vacuum. It seems like almost weekly some sick, stressed-out denizen of the wasteland we call "society" transforms him/herself into the first person shooter of every video game junky's dreams. Nice country we have going here. Zombies are on the loose, but they just want to play Nintendo. There are not enough brains around to eat.
Romero, fight the good fight and keep making movies that chomp on our collective behinds! We get the government - and the apocalypse - we deserve. |
