It's not a great epic film, I've seen all the main actors give better performances than they've done here, possibly due to weak script, but high marks for subject matter, story, cinematography. Very important to see this film in regards to history and personal histories. The brutality of the Japanese needs to be exposed more often so that we learn the lessons of the past. Amazing resilience of children during war - they are the heroes everyone for their survival too. Accessible to young audiences, so I would advocate showing it in junior high and high schools. |
