Our children (teens and pre-teens) are big fans of the book series, so we were a little nervous taking the family after reading initial reviews. But everyone came out smiling, saying it was way better than we had hoped, even though some parts were changed slightly. The main characters had depth and were well played. The scenery was gorgeous.
A few scenes went on a little too long, and there were some plot points that seemed forced, but it was a treat to see a family-friendly movie that was rich in so many ways, rather than the typical fare that barely appeals to middle-schoolers. |
