good movie, bad ending

The movie held my attention. It seems like a good, solid thriller-mystery while you're watching it... and then you get to the end. I'm not going to give anything away here, so don't worry about that.
The problem is that after spending so long biulding this deep, complicated mystery, the story finishes with and explanation that is a bit too contrived to be enjoyed. This is partly because some of the questions answered in the end are questions the audience is not told about before hand. It is as though the writers were under the assumption that a good mystery is made by keeping the audience in the dark about important plot points.
Everything else about this movie is good and it will keep you absorbed like few movies will, but the ending almost ruins it for you. |
