I've always dug Cusack's movies, but this sets a whole 'nuther level. A farce that's a bit too close to reality for the world's own good, it's smartly written, acted, and directed. The camera doesn't linger long on any of the visual jokes (took a second to realize the deal with the 'dancing girls') and you find yourself thinking "did they just say what I thought they did?" This is a movie that's gonna take a few viewings to catch everything. This is black comedy at it's finest. The movie isn't afraid to throw in a dose of harsh reality in between the laughs. Highly recommended! |
