Republican President Eisenhower warned us in 1960 of the emergence of the "Military - Industrial Complex." Legendary filmmaker Stanley Kubrick answered his concerns with Dr. Strangelove. The current Republican President is an enabler of the MIC, who operates in a society where the same companies that make the weapons also own the press / media outlets who are supposed to be watchdogs of the MIC (see General Electric, etc). This film takes that conflict head on with humor, action, depth of character and irony that has been almost totally missing from our national debate. John Cusack and his colleagues have shown enormous courage and artistry in making the film and bringing the issues to our attention. The film is both painfully didactic and very funny. There are some violent scenes that may upset some viewers, but hey, it's War, Inc isn't it? If you want an anticeptic, flag waving war movie, try Ronald Reagan in Hellcats of the Navy. The film will be hard to find. That is intentional. The fim will make you think and those who spend your tax dollars don't want you to think, especially before this November. If you can't find it, I hope it is on DVD by the election. See it. |
