I'm a fan of the original and was skeptical about this reinvention but Rob Zombie really pulls it off well.
This film is significantly better than any of the other Halloween sequals. The plot elements are better explained and Michael's motivations are given more depth than in the original film. The prequel portion sets up Michael's escape and killing spree by showing him as a 10-year-old boy with a terrible family life, killing animals and school bullies. There is more blood in the killing scenes but it doesn't detract from the suspense.
The performances are memorable and the visuals are impressive. A very entertaining spookshow that didn't dissapoint this long-time fan of the series. |
