Donner's Cut of Superman II is super. Donner worked on 80% of the film, until the greedy producers fired him. I liked the fact that Marlon Brando returns as Jor-El to give him more advice, and finally know what Kal-El and Jor-El talk about. Donner's Cut follows more the the first Superman film. It has far more potentail and it has more story to Kal-El's and Jor-El's relationship as father and son. It has more action then the Lester's Cut of Superman II. Superman crashes through the Statue of Liberity, instead of a building top in Lester's Cut. It was a very funny way how Lois finds a way to find out if Clark is Superman. The ending was great as well. Instead of a weird magical kiss power that Superman does not have, he spins the world back just like in the first movie. One flaw is that How could the truck driver at the diner remember who Clark was? Superman II : Richard Donner's Cut should have been the original Superman II.Donner does a great job re-editing the scenes and the lost footages. Christopher Reeve again will be missed... Out of 5, it's a 5. |
