The Yahoo reviewers got it right, the official hack reviewers missed the boat (as usual). I will think about this film for a long time. For one obvious reason it reminded me of "Last Tango in Paris". You can look at this movie many different ways but to me it was a study on the nature of love/lust. The main characters are all shaped by the brutal,chaotic times they are living in..yet for a fleeting moment they can still try and grasp their humanity. This is not a Hollywood film and not a conventional entertainment. Like all great art, it makes you reflect on the meaning of life, and the tragic nature of man that causes him to inflict suffering on those he loves. |
