These critics are clueless. I thought this was a really powerful movie. They can't seem to get pass the sex, if you took it out, maybe they would be praising it as another great foreign flick. The sex just makes it more real, darker, more emotional, more painful which is what this period in history is. Maybe having a Chinese background helps, but I was riveted to every scene, laughing, crying, in suspense, it was pretty emotionally draining. |
