Okay. I went to see one of the 8 movies to die for and this one was the only one starting at the only available time I could go, so I rolled the dice. Penny is a young 18 or 19 year old with some mental issues about being in a car as we are treated to a flashback of a car accident she was in and both her parents died. ( Her mom dies pretty gorily, I might add)

She has been getting therapy for the problem and her therapist Oriana (played by Mimi Rogers) who I might add for being a college eduacated person made some really stupid decisions in this movie, but it is a movie so you have to try and just be in the moment and not too critical. I digress for a moment.

Anyway, her therapist thinks it would be a good idea to drive to the mountains and build a snowman (which is what she and her parents were on their way to do when the accident occured) and bring this phobia full circle and help her conquer her fear.

But of course something happens. Orianna accidentally runs into a dark hooded hitchhiker along the dark winding mountain road. She wasnt' watching the road because she was bitching out poor Penny for taking drugs ( Probably valium) during the ride.

The hitchhiker is okay, and Orianna feels bad about hitting him, so she gives him a ride to someplace up the mountain along their route. When the hitchhiker gets in the car you know the dude just ain't right. He is wearing a hooded jacket and you can barely see his face as if he is the grim reaper. Orianna and Penny try to get him involved in conversation but he doesn't say a word. He later offers them a skewer of raw meat, which they decline.

After they drop him off at destination, he creeps them out to the point where Orianna starts driving crazily back down the mountain. Penny feels sick, Orianna stops the car and she gets out to puke. That is when Penny notices that the hitchhiker put his skewer into the passenger tire which is causing it to go flat.

They get about a mile away, they have no cell phone coverage, so Orianna decides to leave Penny in the car while she gets to higher ground to get reception. Of course she runs back into the hitchhiker and he dusts her off. Meanwhile Penny is freaking out in the car because her therapist hasn't come back yet. She gets out to find out what happened. Sees the hooded villain tries to run, trips, hits her head on a rock and passes out. She wakes up an hour later or so in the passenger seat of the car. Orianna is dead in the driver seat and the car is wedged tightly inbetween the passenger and driver doors of large trees making escape impossible.

Here is where the real terror begins. It's freezing cold, she is trapped in the car with a dead body and the hitchhiker comes back to periodically torment her. We get glimpes of the time on the cars clock and keep thinking everything will be alright once the sun comes up. (Her ordeal started at 6:30 PM) Anyway without going into too much detail, alot of shyte goes down, she escapes from the car and gets rescued by some truck driver......oh so we think????

Overall I give the movie a B minus. Great suspense and camerawork but it gets kind of boring toward the end, and I was very disapointed by ending itself.
