This movie got it right. Although NYC might be a sanctuary city, ICE has the right to go into jails and look for undocumented prisoners and take them, and the city is not able to stop them.
This movie makes America look good because it shows that although our government is misguided, our laws flawed and our bureaucrats callous our people are on the whole good.
This is not the first age when our "country of laws" has run head first into the reality of daily life. Some of our flawed laws put Japanese Americans in concentration camps, or forbade interracial marriage, or forbade abortions, and on and on. I have no confidence in our government or their laws, but I have every confidence on our people and their judgment to do the right thing in the end. |
