Fans of the Book will be disappointed

I am a huge fan of Phillipe Gregory and was pretty excited to see the movie, especially since the screenwriter was the same man who wrote "The Queen" - a film I loved.
However, this movie was completely disappointing. The movie plot deviated so far from the book that I was wondering why they even bothered to mention that it was based on a book.
Anyway, the story moved way too fast that it is almost impossible to care about the characters. I mean Mary is in love with the King, but they only spend all of 5 minutes on screen together. The King is in love with Anne, why because she smiles really pretty and glides throughout the castle. And the king, is such a one dimension character.
The movie fails to show the complex nature of the three Boleyns and when it tried it was way too late.
The gowns were pretty and the visuals were nice. But thats pretty much it.
I wish I saved my money and just watched the BBC mini series on the book.
ANYONE who liked the book, don't go see the movie. |
