No disrespect to the tragedy...

This was not a good film. Even though the storyline had reason to have some holes in it, as Daniel Pearl's account of the tragedy could not be told, the movie was very dry. Daniel Pearl was in the movie for about 10 minutes then the middle of the film shifts chiefly to Maryanne, played by Angelina Jolie. Jolie's performance was far from Oscar worthy, as I am sure many will claim it was. An Oscar nomination would come because of reputation only. Maryanne Pearl is a black/bi-racial woman and has been seen enough in the media to make Jolie's physical ortrayal of her almost non-believable. And although Jolie has a great range in acting, playing a black/bi-racial woman is beyond her range. Her emotionless attitude towards her husband's kidnapping was a very poor effort. The ending scene with Jolie letting out all of her emotions with earth shattering screams (after finding out Daniel died) was weak. Even screaming at the top of your lungs could save this movie or Jolie's performance.

Six people left in the middle of the film, no doubt due to boredom. I really don't blame them. Just because it is a sad, real life story doesn't make it a good movie. Get it together critics.
