See this movie! Half the audience were crying and wiping away their tears at the end, a testament to the power of this movie to connect with our deep-seated emotions and inner psyches. As all good movies should be, this one is unpredictable and throws twists and turns in the lives of the main characters played by Helen Hunt, Colin Firth, Bette Midler, and Matthew Broderick. We see in the characters elements of ourselves, families and friends. The longing for love in its many formats, the bonds of friendship and family, the trials and tribulations of dating and relationships, and the best laid plans of mice and men. Life is never played out exactly the way you planned it, and this movie shows life in its raw real format with all of its idiosynchracies and warts, which makes it truly beautiful. |
