Helen Hunt did an amazing job in both directing and acting in this awesome, funny, serious, and sweet little film.
My best friends and I all enjoyed this movie and the entire cast, including the fabulous Bette Midler, did an outstanding job.
Helen Hunt wants answers why her child of a husband, played very well by Matthew Broderick, decides to leave her.
She wants and longs for a child and still has not become pregnant. She is and has been ready for motherhood and hopes that it's not too late for her to have a child of her very own. She wants to know why it hasn't happened yet for her, almost as if she is doing something or has done something wrong and is not "deserving" of a blessing like having a baby.
She finds out that her biological mother would like to meet her after all these years, played by Bette Midler in classic "Bette" style, just after the passing of her adopted mother. Helen Hunt's character seems to go through everything all at once, just like things happen in our everyday lives. The meeting of Colin Firth's character, a single father of two, recently divorced, makes the ball roll even faster for Helen, and definitely keeps you, the viewer, entertained waiting to see what is going to happen next.
Secrets and lies are told, new endings and beginnings take place and I personally was moved and involved with the film from the very beginning to the very end. There was a great sense of raw emotion and realness that I appreciated on so many levels. It is a film with everyone involved longing for answers and hope.
This film deserves more attention and hopefully it will get some with word of mouth. The cast alone is worth seeing this little gem. It keeps you laughing and crying all at once and I highly recommend "Then She Found Me", because I am glad it found me.
One of the best films in 2008 so far.
