Very Dark...Very Creepy Tale of Evil Child

Excellent cast, excellent script, makes for one of the creepiest evil child movies in a long long time. It's obvious and yet subtle, because for quite a while in the movie you're not sure if Joshua is really as evil as you think he might be. Then you begin to realize that he is! Vera Farmiga is becoming one of the most realistic and original of the young actresses working today. She's becoming more and more established as an "A" actress. Definitely, recommend this movie especially if you liked all those other evil children movies of the past like, "The Bad Seed," "The Other," and "Village of the Damned." The boy is perfect in the role. The ending has been criticized, but it works for me in that there's a realization on the part of one of the characters who doesn't believe that young Joshua could possibly be responsible for all the bad things that have occured. |
