Surprise! This movie doesn't suck like you think it's going to! Sure, it's not very original...there are elements of all the classic horror films here: Psycho, TCM, Halloween, Saw, You Name It! BUT...this movie provides something that is quite rare indeed in today's horror films: SUSPENSE. I was on the edge of my seat from the very beginning and pretty much stayed there until the end. I do wish the ending wasn't so abrupt, but the story was taken as far as it could go. An unhappy couple spend the night in a BATESLIKE motel because their car broke down. Then they find some very disturbing tapes in the room, where families and many others are being tortured and killed. Only, upon closer inspection, all of this is taking place in THE VERY SAME ROOM they're in. This film is creepy and very tense. The acting is excellent, as is the taut direction and very good screenplay. Watch it if you love to sit on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen next. Only don't fall off the couch! |
