They ALWAYS say the book is better...!

I read the book when it came out over 2 years ago and was so into it that I read it in one day. I was excited when it was mentioned that the book would be made into a movie. I waited and waited and when the movie was FINALLY released I made sure I was the FIRST person in my zip code to by a ticket.
Well, I should have known something was up when I was the ONLY person in the movie theater. I thought to myself maybe some people never heard of the book, so they would not be interested in the movie. I never did see one movie trailer on TV or anywhere else adverstising the its release. Now that I think of it, the theater I was at did not have a movie poster on display advertising the movie (shocking). I thought maybe due to the R rating a lot of Christians would not be interested (and the movie could have gotten away with a PG or PG-13 rating. I have seen more violence on TV with a G rating...go figure).
The book, to me, painted a TOTALLY different picture than what I saw on screen. I felt the movie was rushed and a lot of key elements were left out. A lot of things that I viewed on screen were not in the book (typical) and there were quite a few loop holes.
Either way, it was a decent effort but it could have been a lot better. I might need to check this one out again once it hits DVD, so that I can SLOWLY view it frame by frame in the privacy of my own home. I'm just amazed that I was the ONLY person in the entire theater during the showing of the movie. I hope it did better in other areas. |
