On the surface this documentary about a sporting competition in 1967(?) is entertaining and easy to watch. However it quickly reveals deeper intangible elements that are universal to us all. It would be easy to say that Deep Water is about a boat race. That wouldn't be a full response. I went into the screening to see a documentary and I left asking myself questions that were unexpected and refreshing. Can a documentary hope for much more? |
