I must say that as someone who grew up overly obessed and loving the original Star Trek series I was like many fans, VERY ticked off at the premise of a redesigned enterprise, recast crew, and rebooted franchise I was blinded and in that blindness I almost made the mistake of not going to give this movie chance which at this point is our only salvation to continuing the franchise we all know and love. Well that brings me to the present I went and saw it and LOVED it, yes its not Bill Shatner, George Takei, Walter Koenig, etc but we do get Leonard Nimoy and we do get to see things from "a beginning" and the young men and women playing these parts brought some of the best qualities of the old combined with a fresh sping. All I can say is I cannot wait to see the sequel. However I will always watch, remember, read, and love the original I do believe that this new Star Trek will breath new life into it and allow it to continue for many years to come. There are a few downsides but most of which are story driven and I wont give all of them away but they do make it unusual to say the least but they are minor. HOWEVER the direction they took took Captain Pike I must admit I was pleasantly surprised since he was never fully explored in the original series just in the novels. Well to all Star Trek Fans and purist please set aside your anger with the reboot and go see it and give it a chance while not all of you can be pleased at least support this movie as it will continue to allow our beloved characters to live on. I mean imagine what James Bond or Doctor Who would have been like today if they stopped when the original actors stopped playing them. We will always have our originals but give some support to these newbies too. |
