I liked the movie well enough, but I can't get over the idea of Kirk being rescued on a sparsely-populated planet _by someone who knows him_. I'll concede that it's possible that Delta Vega is the only class M planet close enough to Vulcan for Spock to be dropped off AND at the right point in the voyage to drop off Kirk, but a planet is a BIG thing, and the likelihood of Spock and Kirk meeting there is pretty much zero.
I hate "the bad guy never hits the good guy" shoot outs as on the Romulan vessel. I also hate "the bad guy gives the good guy a chance to live" fights where the bad guy could have kicked the good guy off a precipice to his doom -- this happened not once but TWICE in this movie.
Don't even get me started on time travel paradoxes -- ugh. Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the USS Enterprise, whose infinite possible quantum futures will now be explored by anyone who has a big budget and access to enough Trek fan fiction. |
