If you are not infected with the joy of "Hairspray" than there isn't a movie musical that can make you smile. The cast is great - from newcomer Nikki Blonsky, who really carries the story, to an incredibly well-cast group of superb actors playing their parts with energy and pizzazz. The music is great, the dancing better and the message is a perfect one for both young and old. To me, Christopher Walken and Queen Latifah, were the best of a great ensemble. John Travolta made the part of Edna his own and convinced the audience he was a woman, not a man in drag. All in all, a whole lot of fun and better than "Dreamgirls". Go see it and cheer up your day. |
