Globalization can be both fun and enchanting, if only we can learn from it. Todd, Josh Hamilton, runs a call center in Seattle that sells American themed memorabilia. His company moves the call center to a small town outside of Mumbai, India. Todd is sent to India to train his successor. He appears in pressed khakis, white shirt, tie and jacket and sticks out like a sore thumb. Todd is assaulted on all sides by Indian culture which he keeps at arm's length. He longs for a bit of America and heads to a McDonald's to discover they only serve veggie burgers. While there he runs into another American who suggests resistance to India is futile, if you give in it will be better. Todd is transformed by this insight and learns how to embrace India and its people. With this insight the Indian call center and he become a successful team on many levels. The film is full of wonderful character actors, mostly Indian, who have endless stories and possibilities. Todd's love interest Asha, Ayesha Dharker, has the most amazing eyes that fill with both wonderment and tears. This indie film is charming and enlightening. It is in limited release, but is worth the effort to find. Rated PG-13 for some sexual content. This is a Peggy's Pick. See all of my reviews at ****.com
