Lacks character, but very well done (no spoilers)

If you enjoyed character developement and a story with lots of turns, ups, and downs, this film doesn't deliver it as well as the original film did.
At the beginning of the film, the movie feels just like the original did. Same music, chaos, and survival. Throughout almost all of the movie, there is constant tension and intensity.
The problem the movie had with me is that the characters personalities lack a lot. It seemed to me that with "28 Weeks Later" they gave the audience a certain ammount of characters just to kill. The first one had much more depth and you grew attached to the characters a bit more. Most of the movie was them running away, and there was no time to breathe. For me that was a bit of a negative, but that characteristic could make a lot of people happy. It also seemed like the made a fair ammount of money with the first film, and then used it all for special effects. Which again, depending on what you look for in a movie, will either make you upset or very pleased with the turn out.
It all comes down to personal opinions though that will most likely determine if you will enjoy the movie or not.
The first was did a great job with characters, and gave you the greater feeling of being alone.
The second movie focuses more on near nonstop terror, scares, and action.
Both movies are well done, but they are very different in the directions they take. It just depends on what qualities attract to you more that will determine whether you like it more than the first or not.
I would like to write much more, but I don't want to ruin anything. |
