After reading a couple of these reviews and seeing only an average rating, I didn't expect much from the film. However I didn't see anything else worth renting and gave this a chance anyway. I enjoyed it, but I can see why some people might not like parts of it.
The best way to describe this is that its a story similair to seven samurai, with fight scenes like crouchy tiger, hidden dragon and characters/acting like conan the barbarian.
I think this is a well made film, with a better than typical hollywood story. If I was to say something bad about this film, it would be that it tries to be hollywood, though in a chinese way still. For me, a lot of foreign films are ruined by hollywood, so I would say that if they had left the hollywood spectacle out of this movie it would have been an A movie. |
