I saw the film at the Boston Independent Film Festival on April 29. The crowd LOVED it. It took a while to warm up, but once the heavy sarcasm started rolling, it had the whole audience in the Somerville Theater roaring and cheering.
McIntyre's acting - eh. O'Malley (as a priest) and Arnett (as a mortician) - incredible. Perfect timing on all humorous lines. Nice Boston story about neither mobsters nor dead-end townies, On Broadway showed a side of the city that truly is Boston - a tight family /friend group, passionate characters, and indefatigable spirit.
Not sure if or when this will hit national theaters, but I think this film, although geographically specific, holds many transcendent themes the movie-going public would benefit from experiencing. |
