While I normally love anime Paprika left a lot to be desired. It seemed to want to be visually stunning (& it frequently was) but the story was way too convuluted and contrived while not being about much at all really. No surprise in the villain - no surprise in the outcome of the main story (but slightly so in the end). Only an okay film. Definitely not among the best of this director. |
