Crime drama that develops characters and themes of loyalty and decency and loss.
Movie develops tension by keeping the key characters (5 lifelong friends and gangsters) reticent, making sure they are not portrayed as complicated heroes, and putting them in lose-lose situations.
And the brotherhood between the main characters is tested and proven as they are put in violent situations.
There are scenes of, perhaps, redundant gunplay but it is not overdone in the style of Hollywood big budgets. And the violence seems necessary to show what the main 5 guys are made of when they are put to the test.
I do think viewers will feel engaged in the plot and the fate of the main 5 characters just as they are engaged in each others' fate. |
